ALSO Future Music is a development programme that targets a diverse range of early-career artists looking to build experience. It offers developmental workshops with industry professionals, marketing and promotion, help adapting performance for outdoor events and experience performing to a festival audience.
Project history
Over the last few years we've become acutely aware that opportunities for grassroots artists have been shrinking whilst seeing the number of applications from grassroots artists to play at ALSO alone increasing by 160% year on year. We wanted to ensure opportunities remained to allow performers to showcase their work in a professional setting and access support in navigating the next steps in their musical development.
Aims
The project aimed to:
- Engage a diverse range of early career artists looking to build experience and develop their audience.
- Offer development opportunities consisting of: Development workshops with industry professionals Marketing and promotion Help adapting performance for outdoor events Experience performing to a festival audience
For grassroots performers, we aimed to improve:
- Confidence and stagecraft in a festival setting
- Connection with audience
- Ability to work with technicians in a live setting
- Industry connections
- Digital presence
- Navigation of the application process for live events
